Our model is for a small, core group of professional filmmakers covering the key roles in a production to work hand-in-hand with non-professional volunteer members of the community to make films. The core professionals meet with community members to develop the concept based on issues relevant to the community. A professional writer develops the screenplay or script, and the core team will oversee production to make sure it attains a high-level of production value. Non-professional talent will make up the majority of the cast and crew and will provide locations and many resources required in the making of the film. The intent is help bring communities together and to develop a sense of unity through collaboration around the larger goal of creating the film.

FUNDRAISING: This is achieved through grants, gifts, and charitable donations, through the development of relationships within selected communities, and through existing and developed relationships with filmmakers who understand our vision and mission. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the Community Films Foundation.

DISPERSION OF FUNDS: Filmmakers are encouraged to apply for small grants from the Community Films Foundation. Funds will be awarded based on the nature of the project, the level of funding required, the experience of the filmmaker, and the involvement of the local community in the production of the film or project.

FILMMAKERS: By nurturing existing relationships with filmmakers and developing new relationships, we encourage and inspire them to work with their local communities in the making of their films.

COMMUNITIES: Our focus is on smaller communities not known for their filmmaking capabilities. Filmmakers are encouraged to work with local churches, schools, businesses and organizations in the creation of their films.

SHORT FILM COMPETITIONS: We will sponsor a short film competition that focuses on filmmakers working together with their communities in the making of the film. Winners and finalists of these competitions may receive funds toward the creation of their feature-length films.

“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously.

But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which

the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”
